John Rakich
John Rakich, DGCO/ATAS/LMGI, is a Supervising Location Manager and Location Scout with over 25 years of experience delivering complex, large-scale productions across North America, Europe, Africa, and beyond. His work spans studio features, premium television, and global streaming series, where he has led multi-country location strategies, overseen expansive teams, and managed high-level government and studio relationships. Known for combining creative instinct with logistical precision, he has built a reputation for navigating challenging environments while protecting both story and budget.
He currently serves as President of the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), where he has focused on expanding the Guild’s global presence, strengthening governance, building international partnerships, and elevating the craft of location management as both an art form and a strategic pillar of production. He is a former board member of the Directors Guild of Canada, Ontario (DGC Ontario), and a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
Beyond his production work, John is an active voice in the global screen industry. He serves on municipal, regional, and international advisory boards and is a frequent speaker at universities, major markets, and international conferences. His thought leadership centers on sustainable production practices, competitive global incentives, workforce development, education, and the economic impact of location-based filmmaking. Through both practice and policy, he continues to advocate for the long-term growth and stability of the global production landscape.
